Break The Stigma

One of the biggest obstacles with properly treating mental illness can be the stigma around treating mental illness. People don't ask for help, they don't get help, they don't use the help available, all because other people around them will judge them because of it. First of all, don't let the narrow opinions of others prevent you from getting the help you need. Don't let them hurt you that way. Second of all, if you're one of those other people, realize what you are doing and stop it. Don't let your attitude cause harm to the world around you. Third, we can all do more. We can all help break the stigma surrounding mental illness. Do your part today.

Tug Of War

Mental illness can feel like you're playing tug of war with yourself, like you're trying to go in too many directions at once. It can feel like you don't know which direction is up, and you don't know which direction you're trying to go. It can be confusing and frightening, but it doesn't have to be. Recognize the issue, and break it down into smaller pieces to help make it more manageable. Do what you can, and accept help where you need help. Don't let the struggle tear you apart. You have options.

One in Four adults in the United States will experience mental illness within their lifetime. Odds are very good that someone next to you right now is going through something rather similar to what you experience. You are not alone, and you do not need to feel alone. Other people do have experience. They can share the load, and they can offer help. Don't feel like you're the odd one out. You are not alone.

You don't have to get everything perfect. There are resources available, and all you ever have to do is your best. Ask foir help when you need it, and accept the help when it is offered, then keep trying. Keep moving forward, and succeed in your own way.

Life is not all sunshine and roses. If it were, we would quickly lose the ability to appreciate sunshine and roses. That's just human nature. It isn't necessarily right and it doesn't necessarily make sense, but that describes so much of human nature. We make bad decisions, often for all of the right reasons. Don't let those bad decisions define you, and don't cling to a mistake just because you put a lot of effort into making it. No matter what you might think at the time, some prices are never worth it. Don't lose yourself in the dark. You don't have to be perfect. You don't need to be a saint. Just do your best.
