Love Is What We Are Born With

We are not born with fear. That is something that has to be learned. We are taught to be afraid by circumstances, by people, by false belief. We are born with love, with trust, and with the desire to reach out, the desire to embrace and be embraced. We want to love and be loved because that is our natural state. Why have we chosen to create a state that is not an improvement upon our nature? Wouldn't it be better to embrace what makes us whole?

My Meditation Is Simple

When I read a book, that is my meditation. What I fold the laundry, that is my meditation. When I love my family, that is my meditation. Whatever I do, if I do it truly and with my entire presence, that is my meditation. It is no more complicated than we make it. Be where you are when you are there, and see the improvement that makes in the life that you are living.

What They Look For

It is an unfortunately reality of the human race that we tend to find exactly what we look for. I say "unfortunate" because, for too many people, "what we look for" is the negative, the harmful, and the pain. We want to believe the worst about someone, so we find the worst. We could instead be looking for the positive, the hopeful, and the healing. We could be finding what would make things better. I'm willing to try. Will you?

We Do Not Fear The Unknown

We have a bad habit of making assumptions and then treating those assumptions as if they were valid facts. We are afraid because we have told ourselves that we have reason to be afraid, and then we shut down and never learn anything more. It is not the future that scares us. It is not change or what might be. What scares us is what we have chosen to believe. Perhaps, instead, we might choose to believe that we are not afraid. Perhaps we might choose to believe that we can make the future something beautiful. Just imagine what we might accomplish.

I Shall Not Live In Vain

I may not be able to change the world, but I can change some part of it. I may not be able to convince all people, but I can help someone to see. I may not be able to do it all, but I can do something. Every little thing counts, and we can all do some little thing. Do your part to make the world a better place, and the world will be a better place. It really is that simple.

Changing Myself

When I was a child, everything was out there, somewhere. As I grew, I learned to assign boon or bane to more specific sources and thought that I had gained a great skill. If I could find the source of this misfortune then I could fix it and thus fix the misfortune. The more I learn, however, the more I come to realize that everything I have the power to fix is only that which is purely within, not without. I cannot tame the storm, but I can dance in the rain. I cannot change the world, but I can change my interactions with the world and, in doing so, the world changes. I can change me, and that is enough.

There Is No Other

We create the idea of Other out of fear. There may be other symptoms - confusion, anger, pain, to name but a few - but, at heart, they all lead to fear. We do not know, and we fear what we do not know. It is, at times, easier to hide from that fear, and so we assign an Other. If we face our fears, however, if we take the time to learn, we usually find that there is no other. We find that we all share the same hopes and joys, the same heartaches and sorrows, and we find that we can work together to maximize the one and reduce the other. We are all together, and we will all feel the same sting or the same balm. What we most want for ourselves, we would do best to achieve for all.

It Has A Song

We do not have the answer to every problem that comes along, but we do not need to have the answer at all times. Sometimes a song is just a song, and sometimes that is all it needs to be. Sing your own song, and sing for your own reasons, and you may find that you have less questions, or at least less questions that are of concern, anyway. Sing because you can and discover that you have all the reason you need to sing.

Laughter Is The Sun

Just as the harshest bite of winter wind can be made less bitter by the warmth of the sun, so too can your own personal winter find comfort and balm with the right remedy. A touch of laughter, a kind smile, the warmth of friendship. All of these and more can drive away the foulest of spirits and help you to overcome your coldest days. Look for the sun in your own life and you may find that things are not as bad as they once seemed.

Never Regret A Day

There are many days that we would like to put behind us and never consider again. For some, there may be more than others, but it is safe to say that we all experience this. Consider, however, that even your worst day can teach you something. Perhaps, then, the idea is not to forget the day entirely, but rather to forget those parts of it that no longer serve any useful purpose. Take hold of the lesson, and let even your worst experience transform into something beneficial.

A Simple Life

The bells and whistles are not what make a good life. The smell of rain. The laughter of a child. The warmth of your loved ones together. These, and many like them, are the things that are central to a good life. You can add additional layers, additional decor, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that, but layers and decor are not the good life. Keep things in their proper perspective, remember what is central and what is extra, and you will be far more likely to enjoy the life you have. Celebrate what makes a good life, and you will celebrate life.
