Respect For All

The short answer, of course, is that they don't. It is a psychological fact that most people who abuse others do so because of their own inner demons. They believe themselves to be lesser, whether consciously recognized or not, and so they try to drag other people down to feel better about themselves. Remember this, and try not to engage those demons. They are not your fight. If you are in that position, yourself, try to remember that climbing up is always better than dragging down. Not always easier - almost never easier, in fact - but always better. Be better.
