TGIF 10-9-15

Good morning and TGIF! I actually don't have anything prepared for today. It's been a busy week. The day job has been a bit more hectic than usual, and we have had foster care meetings almost every day. All in all, it's been quite a productive week, but at the expense of your Friday article, I'm afraid. I hope you don't mind.

As I said, lots of foster care meetings. There are only two more classes (counting tomorrow) for that part of the licensing process, so they are trying to move things along. Due to the volume issues I've mentioned previously (18,000 children in state foster care, and only 4,600 foster families - that sort of thing), there is a bit of a backlog, so things don't move along smoothly. Everyone is doing what they can, though, and doing so rather admirably, under the circumstances. We had our first CFT (Child and Family Team) meeting yesterday, mapping out strategies and goals. It may be busy, but it's good to see where things are going. It helps with the feeling that they actually are going somewhere.

It's the second week of October, and I haven't even broken out my decorations yet. I'm definitely behind. I'm not worried about it, though. What needs to be done is getting done. Everything else will have to rearrange for a time. It happens. The decorations will be out soon, and we'll start swinging into the holiday season. I'll try to remember to post pictures. This is one of our favorite times of the year, so we'll be sure to share.

Not much else to update at the moment. Please remember our Trash Bags are for Trash fundraiser, and help us raise money to provide proper suitcases to children in foster care. They shouldn't have to stuff their precious belongings into trash bags. Life for kids going into foster care is rough enough without that image. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Have a great weekend, and let's make it a better world! Thank you for all of your support along the way.

Don't forget our Trashbags are for Trash fundraiser, please. Lend a hand, if you can. If all you can do is spread the word, we appreciate that too. It all helps. Thank you.
